Wildfish Crafts Crochet Workshop

One of the fascinating things I have discovered in my first year of selling my handmade eco-friendly products at craft fairs in the Lothian area was the amount of people who looked at the things I made and then started chatting to me about the recyclable aspect to my many products. People are intrigued when I tell them that my handmade crocheted baskets are made from recycled T-shirt yarn or recycled macrame cord or that my face scrubbies and cloths are made from recycled cotton, not to mention the jute that I use to make some of my other products.

It was from these initial chats that I noticed more and more people started asking me whether I offered crochet classes and it was then that the idea of Wildfish Crafts Crochet Workshops was born.

The desire to learn such a traditional technique seems to be growing, probably since the huge craft drive back in 2020 when we were all stuck at home! Given that I spent my whole professional career making things and teaching those skills it felt quite a natural next step to start my own workshops.

I am now in my second year of delivering workshops and even though I am the ‘deliverer’  of the crochet workshops, I have found that with each workshop I learn something new too and I have my lovely participants to thanks for this. To my amazement, I have learnt that people of all ages will travel to learn a new skill, they will come on their own or with friends and I have definitely learnt that people will work hard to learn a new hobby. All of these things encourage and inspire me to continue delivering my crochet workshops in North Berwick.

Whatever level of skill you have with crochet, everyone who attends my classes will spend a relaxing session learning a new skill, at their own pace, with like minded, friendly people.  My workshops are bespoke and my group size is deliberately kept small so I can offer a personal, one to one experience. The whole crochet workshop experience that I offer will be one that takes you away from the pressure of the working week and sets you off on a new path and a new hobby for life no matter what your age, with the added bonus of a great venue,  a range of freshly baked, home made cakes and a choice of both hot and cold drinks!
