Every piece of fabric tells a story—but few are as globally travelled and naturally beautiful as hessian coffee sacks. Often used once and then discarded, these rugged, jute-woven bags are full of character, history, and potential. Through thoughtful upcycling and a meaningful local collaboration with Common Coffee Roastery in Pathhead, I am proud to give these humble sacks a second life—one that’s handmade, sustainable, and built to last.

Common Coffee, an independent specialty roastery known for its ethical sourcing and community-driven ethos, generously supplies me with the hessian sacks that once carried beans from coffee farms around the world. Instead of sending them to landfill,
these sacks are now carefully prepared, cut, and repurposed into a range of beautiful, functional items—from cushions that warm up your home, to notebook covers that inspire creativity, to draft excluders that block the chill while telling a story.
Each item I create is unique. You’ll see bold printed text from coffee cooperatives, faded shipping stamps, or simple woven textures—all signs of their previous journey. These design features are never hidden; they’re proudly celebrated. They connect you not only to the craft of making, but also to the wider world—where coffee is grown, traded, roasted, and now, transformed into something new.

This partnership with Common Coffee is more than just practical—it’s purposeful. It’s about building a more circular, mindful way of working. By combining their commitment
to quality coffee with my passion for slow, sustainable design, I am creating pieces that are as meaningful as they are useful. It’s a small, local act that reflects a much bigger idea: that beauty and sustainability can go hand in hand when businesses work together with intention.
Whether you’re supporting small makers, sipping locally roasted coffee, or simply choosing products that tread lightly on the earth, you’re part of this story too. And we’re so glad to have you with us!
